Oregon here we come.

We went from Sacramento to Eugene, Oregon on our second day. Until we reached the Oregon border we were under smoky skies from all of the brush fires in central and northern California. It reminded me a lot of the days here when San Diego was on fire. There were tons of strike teams from all over. We saw engines from as far away as Corona.

Smokey skies and 95 degrees near Redding.

Fields of sunflowers.

Mount Shasta.

One of the prettiest rest stops we went to. That's the Klamath River just over the Oregon border. Most of the stops in Oregon and Washington serve free coffee, tea, lemonade and cookies. What's with California rest stops? You're lucky to get a vending machine.

Lots of logging trucks in Oregon.

We stayed in a brand new Residence Inn in Eugene. We got a two bedroom suite. Aaaahhh, that was so nice! In the morning we headed farther North toward Portland and Washington.

Portland is really cool looking. They have every type of rapid transit you can think of. We could see trains (light rail and commuter) and buses and street cars. I'm sure there were ferries down below us on the Columbia River. By far the coolest thing was the Portland Aerial Tram. I was so stunned at seeing it going over the freeway that I didn't get a picture.

And trees, trees, trees! It's so green.
